Mumbai, : Emphasising that the terrorists who wreaked havoc in Mumbai were trained in Pakistan, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor on Tuesday said there was no local involvement in the attacks.

“They were trained by an ex-Army guy in Pakistan,” Gafoor told the press as interrogation of the only caught terrorist revealed.

He also said there was no involvement of local elements in the Mumbai attack.

Putting out the details of the attack, Gafoor said there were 10 terrorists who divided themselves in two groups and fanned out to five different locations in Mumbai. However, he refused to give details, saying the investigation could be affected. “We are here to just allay your doubts.”

"There were 10 terrorists in five groups of two members each, who had come from Karachi in boats. They later hired five taxis to get to their destination," he said. Of the 10 who arrived, 9 were killed while one was caught.

The terrorists carried five time bombs. Two exploded in taxis in Vile Parle and Dockayrd Road. One bomb was placed inside Oberoi hotel, one near Taj hote and the other between Taj and Leopold Cafe. Gafoor said each terrorist had one AK-47 rifle, one pistol, hand grenades, and magazines along with detailed maps of the targeted places.

Gafoor said the police did not have any specific intelligence on the terror strike, apart from a general warning that had been given after the Mariott hotel was blown up in Pakistan.

"Intelligence report regarding attack through sea was received last year but it was focused on Gujarat and south India," he said.

The interrogation with the terrorist has revealed the names of his nine other accomplices: Abu Ismail, Abu Ali, Bara Abdul Rehman, Chota Abdul Rehman, Ajmal Amir Kasav (caught), Abu Ali, Abu Aqsha, Abu Oman, Shahad, Omar and Shoaib.
