Local Govt Nursery oF Democracy: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said local government being the nursery of democracy can play a pivotal role in strengthening democratic institutions in the country.

The Prime Minister said this while talking to Minister for Local Government Justice (rtd) Abdul Razzak A. Thahim, who called on him at the Prime Minister House Wednesday afternoon.

The Prime Minister said the Ministry of Local Government has an important role to play in solving people’s problems at their doorstep and in promoting democracy in the country.

Thahim briefed the Prime Minister about the functioning of his ministry and apprised him of various measures being taken for improving the local bodies system, thus making it more dynamic to serve the masses across the country.
