Senator McCain Calls oN Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE: US Senator and former GOP contender against president-elect Barrack Obama, John Mc Cain has said he is visiting Pakistan to convey his thoughts and to listen others.

He said this while talking to PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif with whom he met during his visit to latter’s Raiwind Farm House residence here Saturday.

Mian Nawaz Sharif told the former US president hopeful that the escalating tension between Pakistan and India will slowdown the economic progress in the region. He urged United States to formulate its policies keeping Pakistan’s difficulties in view.

The two leaders in their meeting discussed Pak-US relationship and present tense situation between Pakistan and India following Mumbai terrorist attack.

US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson, and visiting US Senators Joseph Lieberman and Lindsey Graham were also accompanied McCain, while Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N leaders Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ishaq Dar, Ghaus Ali Shah and former Pakistan ambassador to US Tariq Fatimi also attended the meeting.

McCain, who arrived in Islamabad for two-day official visit on Friday after concluding his brief visit to India where he met with Indian leaders and discussed post-Mumbai attack scenario, will also hold meetings with President, Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff and discuss situation erupted after the Mumbai attacks.

Issues pertaining to the war on terror and Pakistan-US relations will also come under discussions during his meetings.
