Narendra Modi Says Attacks In Mumbai On India Sovereignty


MUMBAI: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said the recent bombings and shootings are an attack on sovereignty of India.

Talking to media outside Oberoi hotel here, Modi expressed grief over the recent Mumbai rampage, saying that the attacks are not an attack on Mumbai but on India.

He added the whole nation will have to fight against terrorism, adding he wanted to come on the spot yesterday; however, he was forbidden by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Modi said his government would give Rs one crore to the Maharashtra government to be dispersed to the kin of the deceased in the multiple terror attacks in Mumbai.

Modi, who visited the residence of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) Chief Hemant Karkare who was killed in the attack on Wednesday, said that the nation should join hands in the fight against terrorism.

In his talks, Modi harped on the same trumpet again and railed against Pakistan, saying, Pakistan violated UN convention. (Last updated at 0955)
