NA: Inquiry into CJP’s Daughter issue Held

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee initiated an inquiry on Thursday into allegations involving extra marks awarded to the daughter of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Abdul Hamid Dogar in Intermediate exams.
A meeting of NA Standing Committee was held here on Thursday with Abid Sher Ali in the chair. Minister of State for Education Ghulam Fareed, Chairperson Federal Education Board, Shaheen Khan and senior journalist Ansar Abbasi, man responsible for breaking the story also attended the meeting.
Minister of State for Education opposed the inquiry and termed it against the rules. However, the committee’s chairman rejected his objection and asked him not to affect the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Shaheen Khan refused to give a briefing to the committee without the consent of Education Minister and walked out of the meeting in protest.
The Minister of State for Education too protested against the presence of Ansar Abassi at the meeting and walked out of the meeting along with other officials of the education ministry.
