Financial crises tackled: SBP

KARACHI: Governor State Bank Dr Shamshad Akhtar has said prevailing monetary crises have been overpowered and the development in last two years was caused by efforts launched by the State Bank of Pakistan and other financial institutions.
This she said while addressing students at University of Sindh Jamshoro on Tuesday. The governor ruled out the economic meltdown in country banking sector, adding, however, Pakistani markets came under pressure by the hike in food prices at international level which continued for 18 months. The GDP of Pakistan, she said, remained stable on seven percent for five years but energy shortfall slowed the pace of fiscal growth, adding the gap between investments and saving widened and saving ratio reached to 13.9 percent.
