London Britain will host the next Summit of Group of 20 industrialised and emerging economies, including India, on the financial crisis here on April 2, Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced on Wednesday.

Brown told the House of Commons that US President- elect Barack Obama has said he would attend the talks - which could be the incoming American leader's first visit to Europe.

The April 2 meeting, in which India would also participate, would bring the 21 nations and four international organisations which met for emergency talks in Washington on November 14 and 15.

"The summit will deal with the major questions of economic actions that are necessary," Brown said. "I have spoken to the incoming US administration and President-elect Obama expects to come to Britain at that time."

The London talks will come ahead of NATO's 60th anniversary summit on April 3 and 4, being jointly held by the neighbouring cities of Strasbourg in France and Germany's Kehl.

Besides India, others included in the G-20 are Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey and the US. The 27-nation European Union bloc is also a member of the grouping.

At the Washington talks, Spain and organisations like the World Bank and International Monetary Fund also took part where leaders endorsed a series of broad goals to fend off future economic calamities and to revive the world economy.

They called for intensified government efforts at bolstering national economies, cooperation on international regulation of the financial system and reform of global structures to aid needy developing countries.
