US$ 30 Bln investment in Energy Sector By 2015: Ashraf

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf said investment to the tune of $30 billion would be made in energy sector by 2015.

Talking to media he said that no load shedding is going on across the country. He told that water situation in dams is satisfactory and the country would get rid of load shedding by December, 2009.

He said no option was left with the government other than to going to IMF for seeking bail out package to steer the country out of economic impasse, adding those criticizing this move should tell the government any alternative.

The country is facing energy crisis due to non generation of a single unit of electricity by the previous government, he said.

He said power generation from Thar Coal deposits will start within the next five years. Presently, the country is facing 3500 MW to 4000 MW power shortfall.
