Qureshi, Miliband Discuss Regional Situation

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary David Miliband said Wednesday that his country would extend cooperation to Pakistan in economic, social and various other fields.
Talking to joint press conference after the meeting along with Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Miliband said the bilateral issues and situation in the region were also discussed, also Pakistan relations with India and Afghanistan were given thought.
Qureshi said they mulled over the situation in the areas straddling Pak-Afghan border and war on terror.
Both the leaders discussed the issues relating bilateral relations and regional situation.

British leader said that Pakistan has pivotal role in war against terrorism and peace in the region, adding this is his third visit to Pakistan in 18 months.
Miliband said that there should be close cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan for regional peace.
David Miliband said his country is raring to provide cooperation to Pakistan in European Union, adding Pakistan would be assisted in its access to European markets.
The British Foreign Secretary said several British Muslims and Pakistanis also accompanied him to Pakistan so that people to people contacts could be boosted.
Earlier both the leaders held a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday morning.(Last updated at 0950).
