ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Wednesday turned down a British proposal of joint operation against terrorism. British Foreign Secretary David Milliband in his meetings with military and civil leaders of Pakistan proposed that Pakistani forces launch a joint drive with the foreign forces in tribal areas to root out terrorists, our special correspondent reported from Islamabad. British foreign minister presented the proposal to Pakistani officials after consultation with American and Afghan officials, the sources said. But the Pakistani military and civil leadership turned down the proposal. The Pakistani leaders urged the US and coalition forces to respect the geographic sovereignty of the country adding for more effective exchange of intelligence between the two sides to curb the terrorism, sources said.
