BSP leader facing Charges for Crimes

Lucknow: Close on the heels of some Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislators facing charges of serious crimes, a parliamentarian has now been accused of assaulting a family in Uttar Pradesh.

BSP Member of Parliament Mohd. Tahir Khan and his five associates allegedly assaulted a family with wooden sticks and iron rods over a property dispute, superintendent of police (city) D P Shukla said over phone Friday.

The incident occurred Thursday night in Beechu village of Sultanpur, about 120 km from here.

Abdul Rehman, a resident of Beechu village, has alleged that Tahir Khan and his supporters barged into his residence and attacked the family members. However, no one was seriously injured.

BSP legislator Shekhar Tiwari was arrested last month for the lynching of a PWD engineer after he refused to pay extortion money for Chief Minister Mayawati’s birthday celebrations.
