PIA kicks off Hajj operation
PESHAWAR: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) kicked off Saturday its Hajj Operation 2008 when its first Hajj flight, PK-1901, carrying 302 pilgrims left Peshawar Airport for Jedha.
Airport Manager Syed Zahoor Ali Shah, Director Hajj Shakeel Ahmed Sethi and High officials of Pakistan International Airport and Civil Aviation Authority were present at the airport to see off the pilgrims.
Interestingly, 27 pilgrims who had to be on board were left behind as their papers were found incomplete by the immigration staff.
The national aircraft carrier will carry some 132,153 pilgrims this year from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia by 310 special flights. The operation will be completed on December 02.
