Landowners Will be Brought under tax net: Tareen

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance Shaukat Tareen pledged that the government would bring all sectors, including agriculture, under the tax net to strengthen the national economy. In an interview to a British newspaper Tareen said the difficult political decisions needed to improve taxation system in Pakistan. He said that all issues have been resolved with the IMF technical team and the next phase of the talks will be focussed on the payment. He said first time in the national history landowners would be brought under the tax net. Tareen said he has full support from President Zardari for improving the tax system adding that the tax rate will be enhanced to bring it to the 15 percent of the gross national income.
