Chained Worker Released From Captivity in Shaikhupura

SHAIKHUPURA: A 25-year-old man who was kept in chains and forced to work as bonded labourer by a landlord in Shaikhupura has been released.

A landlord named Malik Irfan alias Chanda Malik kept a worker, Shamsheer Masih tied to 52 feet long chain and forced him to work in the former’s crop fields.

The landlord forced the captive worker to serve as bonded labourer in return for Rs40,000 that the he lent to Shamsheer’s brother.

Shamsheer remained tied to a chain by his ankle for two long months. When one leg used to get badly bruised the chain was then tied to the other leg.

The team of Geo News along with police carried out a raid and got the worker released.
