US will ‘Snuff Out’ Osama: Obama

Washington: Seeking to fend off criticism from his Republican rival that he was not experienced enough to handle national security, Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama has vowed to "snuff out" al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

"We will finally finish the fight and snuff out al-Qaeda and bin Laden, those who killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11," Obama said at a campaign rally in Sarasota, Florida, referring to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

"I will never hesitate to do what it takes to defend this nation. From day one of this campaign, I've made clear that we will increase our ground troops and our investment in the finest fighting force in the world," the 47-year-old first-term Illinois Senator said.

His remarks follow the 72-year-old Vietnam War veteran McCain's statement that Obama was incapable of protecting America from terrorism.

Later, Obama told media also that "... we need to hunt down bin Laden and al-Qaeda and put them finally out of business."
