Twenty-five miscreants killed in Michani operation: IGP

PESHAWAR: Inspector General Police (IGP) Malik Naveed Khan said Monday that around 25 miscreants were killed and 40 others were rounded during the operation by security forces in Michni and other villages surrounding the provincial capital. A policeman and two FC men were also martyred during the action while the forces managed to blow up two explosive-laden vehicles, supposed to attack security establishments by suicide bombers, the Frontier police chief briefed newsmen at Shabqadar. Commandant Frontier Constabulary (FC) Zafarullah Khan, commissioner Peshawar Arbab Shahrukh, capital city police officer Dr Mohammad Suleman, and senior officials were present on the occasion. Malik Naveed continued they were interrogating the miscreants nabbed during the operation. He said curfew has been relaxed in many areas, adding the situation in restive areas would improve soon and people would be able to return to their homes. The journalists were shown the arms and ammunition seized by security forces during the operation. The IGP said that people's support is must to curb the menace of terrorism and militancy. He said that writ of government would be established in all restive areas at all costs.
