President, PM congratulate Obama

WASHINGTON: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have congratulated the newly elected President of the United States Barack Obama.

President Zardari in his message has expressed the hope that the relations between the two countries would be further strengthened under the new American leadership, the Pakistani embassy said here.

According to Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, Husain Haqqani, President Zardari has felicitated both Barack Obama and Senator Josph Biden on their election as president and vice president of the United States respectively.

President Zardari expressed the hope that Pakistan-U.S. relations will be enhanced under the new American leadership that received a popular mandate in Tuesday’s poll.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has also congratulated newly elected US President Obama.
