Mercury in Quake-hit Areas likely to Drop to –9 Degree Celsius

QUETTA: Balochistan’s quake-stricken areas are likely to witness the temperature going down up to –9 degree Celsius, which will further add up to the hardships of the affectees.

Although food items and other necessities have been provided in the quake-hit areas and the affectees in several areas have built up stocks of these relief goods apprehending severe cold and chill weather, but the karez system and dams storing water being damaged, scarcity of potable water in the areas is worrying most the quake-affected people.

Met. Department Director General, Qamruz Zaman said that showers and snowfalls were expected from 12/13 November in different mountainous areas of the country. He said that the rains and snowfalls new system might not hit the quake-stricken areas, but the mercury would drop up to –9 degree Celsius. The affectees need shelters for protecting them from the upcoming chilly weather.
