KPT Oil Pier-II Dredged And Deepened

KARACHI: The KPT's Oil Pier-II, after dredging has been deepened by 13.4 meters. KPT sources said here that after monsoon, such dredging is normally carried out on an annual basis for maintenance of sanctioned depths of berths and dredging at Oil Pier-II was undertaken to reclaim its sanctioned depth of 13.4 meters. KPT deployed its bucket dredger "Aftab" for dredging work which removed 94,590 cubic meters of silt at the bottom of the pier and dredging completed in two weeks. During monsoon season a lot of silting takes place and dredging becomes a requirement.
