Army Air Defence conducts annual excercise

KARACHI: Pakistan Army Air Defence conducted their annual practice fire exercise at Sonmiani Air Defence Ranges.
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited the ranges and witnessed anti-aircraft guns and short range surface to air missiles fire. Commander Army Air defence Command, Lt Gen Ashraf Saleem was also present at the occasion. The elements of Army Air Defence demonstrated their shooting skills by engaging different targets. The precision and accuracy in marksmanship with surface to air Anza Mark II missile, 37 mm upgraded guns, 35 mm Oerlikon guns, 57 mm guns and RBs-70 missiles was greatly appreciated. The aim of the exercise was to provide live fire experience to Air Defence gunners and missile crews under near real tactical environment and handling of weapons and equipment during firing. Talking to the troops, the Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, emphasized that excellence in training is the key to enhancement of operational preparedness. While appreciating the firing standards displayed by the Air Defence, he assured that all available means will be utilized to improve the operational capability of the Army in accordance with prevailing and future operational environment. The COAS emphasized that the troops should devote themselves fully towards enhancing their professional skills and maintaining high state of preparedness.
